HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna implemented an Environmental cleanup programme under the caption of “Protection of the Environment” under the project ‘Mobilize the youth and strengthen them to promote social cohesion and reconciliation’ funded by AGEH Germany on 30th of July 2019. Hundred and twenty (120) Students from J/Vaitheeswara College joined hands to clean up the environment at Jaffna Muniyappar Kovil, Jaffna Public Library, Pannai Beach and the surroundings. They have collected the Polythene wastes, plastic bottles, empty bottles and garbage separately from the area. School Principal and Teachers also participated in cleaning up.
Revd. Fr. S. Eugene Francis, Director, HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna in his address to the students stated that “it is much appreciable to note that the students are keen on the environment and protect it for the future generation. This act of the students is a good example for the people living in Jaffna to keep the town clean and green zone”.
