HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna has organised a programme on the importance of peace and reconciliation for youth in the District of Jaffna on 12th June 2019 at HUDEC Hall; sponsored by AGEH Germany. Revd. Fr. S. Eugene Francis, Director HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna presided over the event. He stated in his speech that “The contribution of youth towards peace and reconciliation is very important today as the country experienced Easter bomb blast. The activities of youth in the inter-religious programmes in the villages make them as advocate for peace. HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna will continue its activities to bring peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka”. Ms. Bozana Katava, AGEH Representative from Germany graced the occasion as special guest. Ms.Bozana in her speech stated that “Peace cannot be achieved by weapons. When people strengthen their relationship in homes, villages and in the country a permanent peace will be achieved. To establish peace, children, youth and elders in the country have to unite together”. Mr. S. Aravinthan Thevarajan, Lecturer, Human Resource Management; ESOFT participated as a Resource Person. He depicted how the youth can act as an advocate for peace in their villages. 54 Youth, 17-25 age group belong to Hindhu, Christian and Muslim religions benefitted from this programme.
